What if
Adele & Edgar Allan Poe collaborated to help teach your students’ class?
We engage and inspire with music by adapting poetry and text into original songs that are produced to sound like today’s music. Using music and poetry with a guided lesson in the classroom improves diverse skills including literacy, reading, comprehension and vocabulary and enriches students’ emotional and social experience.

We start with poems
We begin with the words of the great poets, those already assigned in the classroom.

We create great songs
Our creative wizards transform these great poems into catchy, memorable songs with videos for streaming online into the classroom.

We develop engaging lessons
Our educators then develop lesson plan guides which include author and historical context, relevant themes and literary analysis, both writing and reading prompts, and an array of activities.
Who are we?
We are musicians, teachers, and other people with a passion to improve how poetry is taught in schools. We want students to realize that poetry is about life and living, and that the emotions that drove great poets in the past are the same as those we feel today.
“Poetry Rocks is one way to solve the “boring” idea. II also helps to bring out the creative part of all the student. When you give them the opportunity to take complete control over their creativity, it is amazing what the results are.”
Ms. Elaine Hamilton ,
Holy Family High School / Poland, OH.(4th grade)
“Introducing music to the classic or more serious type of poetry will enable the teacher to increase the focus of students, enhance their interest, and increase their comprehension.”
Mrs. Lourdes Perez,
Manorhaven Elementary / Port Washington, NY. (5th grade)
“It spurred conversation. The students admitted that whether or not they like the poems or the songs, they were engaged in the conversation. I heard from some students that don’t usually respond.”
Ms. Aimee Morrison,
Ursuline High School / Youngstown, OH. (11th grade)
