How It Works

What would happen if Billie Eilish & Edgar Allan Poe teamed up to help teach class?
Introducing: Poetry Rocks Schools

Poetry Rocks Schools has created an exciting online digital resource designed to empower teachers and engage today’s students. Our songs and videos accompany and compliment standards-based lesson plans with a simple, yet dynamic concept: We adapt traditional and contemporary poetry into modern songs produced to sound like today’s hits. Our exclusive poetry music provides a unique way to connect themes to different disciplines. Rooted in English/Language Arts, our new platform is uniquely positioned to be used as a cross-curricular resource, including in History/Social Studies, Science/Psych/Health, Music, Drama and Communications. We want students to think “across the board and outside the box.”

What We Do

We begin with the words of the great poets, those already assigned in the classroom. Our creative wizards transform these great poems into catchy, memorable songs with videos for streaming online into the classroom. Our educators then develop lesson plan guides (flexible and comprehensive, which include author and historical context, relevant themes and literary analysis, both writing and reading prompts, and an array of activities) for each poetry song/poem/video, engaging students across the curriculum. “Classroom versatility becomes second nature.”

Poetry Rocks Schools is a powerful resource for teachers to inspire students, make deeper connections and improve outcomes. With our new concept, students experience higher level learning skills, creative involvement and social emotional learning (SEL). Teachers simply Log In and Click Play to stream our unique content or Download materials.
